Six 14's were treated to excellent fall conditions this past weekend at the Totally Dinghy regatta run by RYC. Although there was no breeze at the city front (sad day for the big boats over there), we had enough breeze on Saturday to twin wire all day long, upwind and downwind, say 8 or a little more knots of breeze? The breeze was very steady and the water was flat, perfect racing conditions and allowing everyone to finish all races. Well, except for the first race on Saturday, in which…Continue
Before joining this group/class, I did some research.
I found that there was some interest in older vintage I-14's.
Let me first say that I have been sailing most of my life.Starting in Sabots at Mission Bay Aquatic Club and now cruising a Catalina 30. In between There has been many races , mostly NACRA 5.2 Cats and keel boat Capri/Catalina 22's, 27's and 30's.
Back to the vintage stuff.
A while back I acquired an older 1-14 with great…Continue

Dave Alexander and Dan Wilsdon made the long flight up from Australia making good use of an idle…Continue

Apologies for the delay in getting this schedule out but here it is. I'm still working with the Seattle, Midwest, & Hawaii fleets to incorporate their events, but here is the core schedule for the California fleets and it shows all our major regattas. Big stuff on the calendar for this year. Of note: West Coast Champs in San Diego as usual, Nationals in beautiful Santa Barbara in May, North Americans in beautiful and breezy Gorge in July. Not to be out…Continue

Hello All! I am an "OLD CODGER" who has been sailing since age 7. I have owned and raced many fun and exciting dinghy classes. 420, Laser, Flying Dutchman, International Tornado Cat, to name a few. However, it is at this late juncture in my life that i happened upon the International 14! I feel like a kid!!! I was fortunate enough to buy an older, 1995, boat. K-1210. Its definitely a pre-1996 rule change boat. It seems to be strong though. The mast is the shorter (25' heel to tip)…Continue
