I have the remains of a 1963 (US826) built in Cowes by W. A. Sauter. It's really in rough shape, coming apart at the seams, yet it has history, and has most of the rigging and sails. I wonder if I could donate it somewhere as a boatbuilding project, so a school perhaps. Any thoughts on how I might preserve it? I don't have the where with all to do much with it myself.
Yvonne, thank you so much. Yes, I'll upload pictures right away. I'm having some emailed to me, and sometimes it takes forever for them to reach the gmail! Waiting. I'll post them as soon as possible.

Hi Erin,
I've emailed a few of the local guys. Maybe post some pictures of it? Maybe we can do some research about where to reach out and find it a home. There is a blog for a guy that is currently collecting and restoring the older boats. Terry G has links to it. That may be a good start. I will ask Terry to post it.

Here are a couple of pictures of it. We have sails, centerboard, rudder, mast, boom, etc.
Erin, thanks for posting those pictures of your boat. Looks like that one is due for a complete restoration. Lets hope she gets it! Best to contact 'Old14er', he has a great blog on classic 14's and may be able to find someone looking to do a restoration. his blog is here: http://cbifda.blogspot.com/
The more detailed photos that you can post the better, we'd love to see as much of theboat as possible!
thank you,
Terry
Hi all
Just joined the group, bought my very first 14 this year, one that was featured in the Classic 14 blog written by Rod Mincher from Annapolis, built in 1985 in the UK and never sailed!
I have been trying to find enthusiasm for a Classic I14 group, but we are all spread out, and no-one out there seems to have a love for restoring and maintaining old wooden racing dinghies. there have been a number of 14's fro sale here in the Seattle area, and I don't have space or time for any more, sadly. There is a beautiful clinker 14 for sale on Craigslist in Port Townsend, built in the '70's, bit over-priced, this boat also featured on the Classic 14 site. We should all encourage Rod, - he's a mine of information, has a lot of archive material, and still meets with Dr Stu Walker and others from the 'old' days of 14's on the East coast.Love Geoff's boat....can we have some more pics please.
BTW, I have bought a reduced rig for my boat, as I don't intend to race it much, and would prefer to sail with 115 sq ft in relative ease, than with 180sq ft........
All the best for 2015...happy sailing!

Hello, There is a small group of Classic 14 owners, all members or ex-members of Saratoga Lake Sailing Club. I just handed over John Carcich's Kirby V "Balkan Gypsy" to one of them, a new owner. They are talking about possibly organizing a Classic Int. 14 Regatta. We are located about 25 miles north of Albany. Any one out there interested?
I started sailing at 13 in 1962 in a Fairey MK6, and would love to help if there is any interest.
Bill
Hello, I am a former International 14 sailor (Phil Carcich) from the late 1960's thru 1975. My dad (John Carcich), brother (Brian Carcich) & I sailed out of the Saratoga lake Sailing Club just north of Albany New York plus travelled to regattas in Canada, Connecticut & Annapolis, Maryland.
I have just finished restoring, with significant help from Scarano Boat Builders in Albany New York, the last International 14 that my dad owned & sold to Bill Barringer about 10 to 12 years ago. I purchased two International 14s (1 Performance Sailcraft Fiberglass Kirby 3 & my dad's McCutcheon Mahogany Kirby 5) from John Power in Connecticut. There were many parts missing but I have refinished & refitted my dad's McCutcheon Kirby 5. I purchased a set of sails (mainsail, jib & spinnaker) that are in very good condition from John Power but the jib was cut for a 16 foot I dimension & the spinnaker was cut for a hoist point of 18 to 20 feet above the gunwale. Quantum Sails in Rochester has modified the jib for a 14 foot I dimension but I need a spinnaker with a hoist point of 16 feet above the gunwale to complete the sail plan. That translates into a median length (from head to middle of the foot) of about 17 feet. I have looked at International 470 spinnakers but they are slightly smaller than I require for this boat & rig. Any help or potential contacts for a used spinnaker in this size range would be appreciated.
FYI, I also have a fully battened mainsail (US 970) that my dad had made for a rotating mast for Balkan Gypsy & the rotating mast. Unfortunately all the rigging (shrouds, trapeze wires, diamond wires, halyards, etc) has been cut or stripped off of the rotating mast. John Power did supply another Ian Proctor mast with all of the rigging for a 1970s International 14 sail plan so the boat is fully ready to sail (minus a spinnaker).
I currently live in Fayetteville, Georgia & plan on sailing Balkan Gypsy on the lakes north of Atlanta, Georgia (Lake Allatoona & Lake Lanier).
